Some of the most impactful support I have received from others happened when they spoke these genuine words of encouragement: “You can do it.” “We are here for you.” “We appreciate you.” “You are making a difference.” As you see, these are simple words. But when they come from a compassionate heart and utter with a kind spirit, they have the power to uplift us and restore confidence and trust in the human soul.
Kind words of encouragement can unify us. They can also heal our wounds and bring peace to the brokenhearted. They can give hope to the hopeless and restore We all have the command of these words. May we use them to spread rays of sunshine and warm up the human soul. What words of encouragement that have made a difference in your life?

My brother invites me to many of his races. He loves to run marathons and he loves the signs that my boys and I make for him to see just before the finish line. We write words of encouragement, such as , “You look hot when you sweat.” and “Run like someone just called you a jogger.” While the signs are silly, the encouragement is appreciated. Sometimes those words of encouragement are just what you needed to push you to the finish line. Sometimes, all you needed to know is that someone is there for you. Sometimes, you simply can’t see the good stuff because you are in the middle of a grueling trial and then someone steps in and gives you the gift of a fresh perspective.
When working with my patients in physical therapy, they have a difficult time seeing the progress they have made. It is such a joy to be able to point out all that they have accomplished and see them begin to understand the journey they have taken. It is magic when their eyes light up with understanding and they begin to appreciate just how strong and capable they are.
When I am struggling, I don’t necessarily want people to fix things for me. I do appreciate when someone can point out my strengths that will pull me through and remind me of my capabilities and the progress I have made. This act of genuine kindness and love empowers me and I am forever grateful for those who believe in me in such an empowering way.
We can love and support each other by recognizing each others strengths, talents, gifts and encouraging each other to go the distance. I have been able to experience both sides of this practice and am grateful for the blessings it has brought into my life of both lifting and being lifted to new heights and new accomplishments.
Hi Julz,
I always look forward to reading your comments and posts. They are so insightful. I like the example you drew from the experiences you have working with your patients.
