The final piece of the puzzle is the question of when. When do you need to improve? The answer is today: right now. Author and education professor Leo Buscaglia noted, “Life lived for tomorrow will always be just a day away from being realized.”
John stated, “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily … Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed every day. Over time that daily crossing becomes a habit.”
GOAL CONSCIOUSNESS | GROWTH CONSCIOUSNESS |
Focuses on a destination | Focuses on the journey |
Motivates you and others | Matures you and others |
Seasonal | Lifelong |
Challenges you | Changes |
Stops when a goal is reached | Keeps you growing beyond the goal |
This post is a good reminder for me to be more growth conscience instead of goal conscience. Often, I find myself repeatedly setting the same goals around things I am already accomplishing. In order for me to grow, I need to have a growth conscience mindset. I have a habit of setting goals that I can check off a list. Growth can’t be measured by a check mark, a number, or a date.
Hi Shelly,
Great comment! “Growth can’t be measured by a check mark, a number, or a date.” When you are growing you keep working on ways to get better.
